1008 – TC88 Ignition – Race – Twin Cam – 1999-2003

Direct fit for:

• All 1999-2003 Carbureted Twin Cam 88® Engines

• The EX version of this product (1008-EX) is emissions legal – the difference between the two products is that this version of the product has advance curves with a slightly larger adjustment range and it not been tested for emissions compliance.

• NOTE: 1998-2003 Sportster 883/1200 requires ignition module pn 1005S-EX. If you have a Sportster® 1200S with Dual Plug Heads, this bike requires our External Ignition version pn 1007-EX (not the 1005S). Please refer to the Dual Sport Plug Tech Note for more details.

• When performing a custom Twin Cam build or if your stock harness is bad – use part #30081, which includes a replacement ignition wiring harness, module, coil, wires and USB.

• Drag Racing – If you are looking for the TWO STEP version of this product. Be sure to choose 1008-T in the option drop down. The two step version of this product adds a second RPM limit that is used to limit the engine RPM while staging the motorcycle — see the link to the two step note at the bottom of the page.

Twin Cam engine utilize a non-adjustable crankshaft position sensor, this means that mechanical timing adjustments are no longer possible. The 1008/TC88 allows you to adjust your initial timing +-4 degree using a rotary switch. A second switch sets the advance curve slope. The combination of these two switches allows the user to optimize the timing advance for a wide range of applications – from stock to highly modified engines. H-D® motorcycles with the Twin Cam engine have a check engine warning LED on the instrument cluster. The 1008 / TC88 Ignition Module communicates basic diagnostic information by blinking codes on the check engine LED. This eliminates the need for an expensive scan tool. Typical diagnostic codes include failed sensors and/or low/high battery voltage.

You can adjust the slope and advance curve total using the switches on the unit or connect using our TC88 PC Link software and USB adapter pn 18014 to optimize and build your own timing advance for a wide range of applications – stock to highly modified engines.
